SunPower Lawsuit

Sun Power has brought to light some truly appalling malpractices by the solar industry and their lawyers. Most notably is their attempts to sue non-profit organizations that seek to improve the safety of the public and of course the environment. These lawsuits are basically false in everyway. There is no way that a non-profit could be behind such frivolous attacks on such an important industry. Yet this type of litigation has been going on for years and it only seems to be picking up steam.

Companies that sell sun products have sued not only for being deceptive in their advertising, but also because of the injuries that were supposedly caused by their faulty products.

The irony is that these companies had put forward safety features in their products that would prevent such incidents in the first place. In many of the claims that have been made against Sun Power, you will see that the injuries were caused by the fact that the protective coverings over the panels actually created a small air leak. This leak is caused by the metal clips that the protective covers used to seal the edges of the cells. Over time, the buildup of this moisture causes the cells to become overheated and this in turn can cause injury.

So, why did the companies try to sue?

Simple really. They were relying on the fact that consumers were likely to be afraid to use them because of the danger of the product. The reality of the situation was that there was nothing wrong with the product. They were just selling a cover that was not supposed to leak. It was simply an act of desperation by these companies that cost them customers.

There are things that you can do to help prevent you from falling victim to these lawsuits.

First and foremost, if you have Sun Power Products make sure that you take them down before you lay a claim against them. Once you do lay a claim against them you are at their mercy. They can choose to fight it in court or they can negotiate with you. If they choose the latter, it is in your best interests to hire a lawyer to help you out of the mess.

Another thing that you should do is ask your warranty provider to provide you with a list of authorized repair centers.

This way if you ever need to repair or replace parts it will be the right place to get the job done. If you do not want to deal with a middleman, it will also be in your best interest to keep the work done right where you bought it from the beginning. The last thing that you should ever do is sign any papers without having the original receipt as proof.

In the end it is all about protecting yourself and your investment.

You should never hesitate to ask questions about anything that you are unsure of. These companies do not put any kind of information on their website that is not readily available for public consumption. There is no reason to trust them unless you do.
